Crescentera co-produced this world premiere full orchestration of Joseph Julian Gonzalez’ Misa Azteca with the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. It is a modern oratorio combining symphonic orchestral music with Aztec rhythms and percussion. It is based on the Ordinary of the Roman Catholic High Mass along with verses from the Cantares Mexicanos.
Presented as part of California Center for the Arts, Escondido’s 2010 Day of the Dead Festival, it was performed in its Concert Hall by the Southwestern College Concert Choir.
Since then, the piece has been performed all over the world, including at Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Sorbonne in Paris and the Vatican.
